About Us
The company was originally founded in the current home office by Belinda Greene (Allen) in 1983. Steve Allen spent 16 years teaching Gross Anatomy and Neuroanatomy in the medical school at Florida State University and in the physical therapy program at Florida A & M University. The two met in a rehab facility in Tallahassee, were married, and began to grow their out-patient rehab business together in 1993.
Prior to that time, Belinda attended the University of Georgia and Medical College of Georgia, finishing her B.S. in Physical Therapy, Magna Cum Laude, in 1979. From 1979 thru 1982, she worked in Carrolton, Georgia in acute care at Tanner Memorial Hospital and in out-patient rehab with Georgia Rehabilitation, Inc.
Steve received an M.S. in Exercise Physiology form Florida State University in 1975 and completed his course work for a Ph.D in 1978. In 1977, he gained a faculty appointment in the first-year medical at Florida State, teaching gross anatomy. He then moved to Florida A & M University in 1982 as a founding faculty member. He completed the curriculum there while on faculty and received the B.S. in physical therapy in 1991, Suma Cum Laude.
The mission of the company is to provide a warm friendly environment for both patients and staff. It is important that the rehab and recovery form injury be a process that is filled with as much enjoyment as possible. With in this environment is the commitment to never just do things the way they have always been done. Regional Therapy Services has been an area leader in continuing education and contemporary, evidence based practice. Our commitment is to exhausting all means to assure that we provide the most effective and deficit-specific treatment available.
In addition to physical, occupation, and speech therapy, we have a certified hand therapist (CHT) with over 35 years of combined experience. We also have a consistent leader in industrial injury management for over 25 years with over 1400 FCE's performed. We have a number pediatric rehab specialists in all disciplines.
